Self-Defense and Personal Protection



This program is designed for people who want to feel empowered and confident.  Knowing how to defend yourself gives you the confidence not to fight. Many martial artists have never used their self-defense skills in real life. This is because they don't have to. Confidence allows you to stand up to a bully. Often that's all it takes to scare them away. Bullies look for weak people to victimize. Self-defense makes you strong and aware. This class will train you to avoid potentially dangerous situations so you are less likely to be a target for crime.

In this class, you will also learn simple but effective defensive techniques to stop a predatory attack and evade the attacker. These techniques utilize body mechanics that are easy to remember and do not require extensive training but simple repetition. This program teaches you how to defend yourself against common chokes, grabs, bear hugs, and other attacks, including fighting on the ground and when confronted by a weapon. We emphasize realistic scenarios and realistic defenses.


Vic Vinson is a CSUS police sergeant , defensive Tactics trainer, and gang officer. He has a 2nd degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate, and Goju Ryu Karate, and has been a martial artist for over 30 years. He attended Krav Maga training in 1995, and P.O.S.T. defensive tactics training, to teach self-defense and street combative training.

Additional Course Information
