Learn a new skill or two! These classes are progressive in nature and build on skills from week to week. They are taught by expert instructors.
The WELL Fall 2011 Karate program is Isshinryu Karate. This class is for anyone who is looking to improve and develop both mental and physical skills. The only prerequisite is a good attitude.
Instructors: Brad Hill has Studied Isshinryu Karate since January 2001. He currently holds a 3rd Degree Black Belt with the title of Sensei (Teacher). He has been assistant teaching and a lead instructor for over 8 years. Assistant Instructo,r Brian Toppel has studied Isshinryu Karate since January of 2006. He currently holds a first degree black belt with the title of Sho-Dan. He has been an assistant instructor for the past 3 years.

The goal of the class is to teach the basics of self defense. Students will learn Krav Maga’s stance and movements. This program teaches you how to defend yourself against common chokes, grabs, bear hugs, and other attacks, including fighting on the ground and when confronted by a weapon. We emphasize realistic scenarios and realistic defenses.
Instructor: Vic Vinson is a Police Sergeant for the Sac State Police. He has been a martial artist since 1975 and teaching since 1990. He holds a second degree black belt in Shorin Ryu Karate/Goju Ryu Karate. He is also trained on Krav Maga and P.O.S.T defensive tactics training self defense methods.
